HISTORY
Robotiáda was established in 2013 as part of the From Student to Scientist project aimed at supporting technical education in the South Moravian Region. The project included the creation of 20 robotics clubs at elementary and secondary schools, as well as at leisure centers in the region. The newly launched competition became the culmination of their year-long efforts.
Until 2022, Robotiáda was organized by the South Moravian Centre for International Mobility, which, with the support of the South Moravian Region, focused on supporting both Czech and international students, pupils, and researchers in the fields of science and technology. Since 2023, the competition has been organized by the SVČ Helceletka.
The organizers’ vision has always been to design Robotiáda as a major robotics event in Brno, where robotics clubs from elementary and secondary schools, technical schools, universities, and companies can present their work. The competition is also considered a significant motivational factor for work in technical clubs and schools.
The first edition of the competition in 2014 took place in the Vaňkovka shopping center, where this lucrative space in the city center was fully transformed into an interactive robot exhibition, with Robotiáda as the centerpiece. From the second year onward, the event has been held at the VIDA! Science Center, located at the Brno Exhibition Grounds.
The competition quickly gained popularity and, in a short time, became the largest robotics competition in the Czech Republic. Robotiáda has been an international competition from the very beginning. In addition to teams from Slovakia, it has gradually welcomed teams from Poland, Austria, Ukraine, and Russia.
